History
The history of the Blue Barn Ranch.
In the early 80’s my parents Joe and Lois Lewis purchase the 40 acres and named it the “Yucca Ranch.” The property got its name because my parents had planted some yucca plants. The Yucca Ranch was undeveloped land. Joe, Lois, family and friends all worked many, many weekends putting up the fencing, grading the roads, building the barn, corrals, and drilling for water. It was a labor of love for many. Our family and friends spent most weekends here working and having lots of fun together as a family. We’ve had all kinds of animals at the Ranch as well. We’ve had horses, cows, pigs, emus, yes that’s right, emus. There is also lots of natural wildlife that come and go on the ranch too, like barn owls, hoot owls, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, red tail hawks, snakes to name a few.
Joe and Lois had a dream of one day building a home and living here, but after Lois died unexpectedly in 1998, Joe lost his desire to build and live on the property. The Yucca Ranch became more of a place to store Joe’s treasures and his friends junk. 😉
My dad Joe passed away in 2011 and Marcus and I had the job of going through and cleaning the Barn and Ranch, and what a job it was. We spent so much time at the Ranch cleaning, we began to see why my parents loved it so much. We too were now in love with the property. After lots of prayer and long talks, we decided to purchase the property from the family estate and make it our own. We prayed that somehow God would use us and the property as a blessing to others. We continued to clean up the property and see what God had in store for us. It wasn’t always easy. We worked long hours cleaning. Had our share of people coming onto the property, taking what wasn’t theirs. So one day after we had been robbed ...again, I found some motor oil, walked the property, anointed our fence line, prayed for Gods protection and that we would use this property to honor Him! We haven’t had a problem since. God is faithful!
We have hosted many events for our family, and friends. Our friends would tell us that the barn would make a great event venue. So we decided to paint the barn blue, put in a new road and gate, added a few more out buildings, and rename the property from the Yucca Ranch to the Blue Barn Ranch and start renting it out as an Event Venue. We’ve had Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Bible Studies, Movie Nights, BBQ’s, Graduation Photo Shoots, and much more here at the BBR.
We are so excited to see where God leads us at the Blue Barn Ranch as more and more events are booked.
We hope to see you at one of our events soon!
Thanks and may God bless you!
